Gregory had the impulse after clawing back a 2 match deficit, but Nick proved quite the stronger in the decider. The Yorkshireman told that it was difficult; it was such a mental pressure. What people do not see is that mental torment, that mental chess. There is no place to breathe or to move. This is a huge mental battle. He required a month off following that. Now he could gladly retire, but he won’t.

Thirty year old Gregory ended as runner up for the 4th time in his playing career, in spite of having appeared like a player who could beat his opponent this time. The Frenchman, who defeated Nick comprehensively to became victorious at the United States Open previous month, had spoke about how calmer he felt on the court.

Nick told that the 4th game went like a blur. He was having nightmares there for a moment. It took a whole lot of mental strength to return and begin the 5th game well.

Gaultier stated that he had been struggling with cramp near the end of the match. He added that Nick played well; he did his job.
